Dr. J. Lauren Johnson is a Registered Psychologist (R.Psych) who completed her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) and American Psychological Association (APA) accredited Educational Psychology program at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB. She has a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from the University of Calgary (Calgary, AB) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) degree from York University (Toronto, ON). Dr. Johnson has won numerous accolades for her academic work. She has received awards for innovation and research excellence for her pilot study on therapeutic filmmaking, provincial and national-level awards and scholarships for her graduate work including the Best Dissertation Award from the CPA’s Counselling Section, and a performance arts award for her film work. She has presented at numerous conferences throughout Canada, has been published in national and international journals, and co-edited the foundational textbook on film/video as therapy, Film and Video as Psychotherapy: Research and Practice. Her therapeutic approach focuses on using a variety of holistic strategies from CBT to EMDR to mind-body therapies to arts-based therapies in order to aid clients in recovering from trauma, reconnecting with themselves, and moving forward with the meaningful, satisfying lives they want to live.

Fees: $200 per session (in accordance with the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta fee schedule)
