Dr. J. Lauren Johnson

Who ~ Dr. Johnson is well-known for being a caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable psychologist who uses her warm personality and sense of humour to connect with clients and help them feel at ease. Her therapeutic approach focuses on using a variety of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, CBT, mind-body therapies, and arts-based therapies, in a holistic, anti-oppressive, client-centred way to help clients achieve their therapeutic goals. She specializes in working with clients who have experienced traumas of all kinds, aiding clients in recovering from their traumatic experiences, reconnecting with themselves, developing healthy social connections, and creating the meaningful, satisfying lives they want to live. When she isn’t working, she is reading, writing, watching movies (she loves film!), going for nature walks, and spending time with her family and their many pets.
Why ~ Dr. Johnson wanted to be a psychologist from an early age. She took an introductory psychology class in high school and fell in love with learning about people. Even after being accepted into a competitive fine arts program for university, Dr. Johnson did not want to abandon her passion for psychology, so she chose to pursue a double major in both fine arts and psychology for her undergraduate program. Even now, after completing a PhD in the field and being a professional psychologist for over 10 years, Dr. Johnson remains endlessly in awe of the resilience and humanity she witnesses every day in her work, and considers herself privileged and honoured to walk alongside her clients in their healing process.
